How to apply the feng shui map (bagua) to my house?
I read a lot of things that say you should apply the bagua map based on the structural front door to feng shui your house, but my house/apt is built weird–the only things on the 1st floor are the front door, the garage (also facing the front), standing room behind the front door & a stair case (directly facing the front door) which leads to the main level (ie. lv rm & kitchen)–this house is in need of a lot of good feng shui!!!–Should I use the entrance to the lv rm as my reference to apply the bagua map w/? Or should I still use the actual front door of the house as a reference point to feng shui the place/main level? I'm so confused!!! Somebody please help me–hnts & links are greatly appreciated!!!
The door of each room is the starting point; but the front door to my living room is down stairs. In this case, do I use the LV rm entrance (which is on the 2nd floor, at the top of the stairs) as my starting point? Or do I still use my structural front door (which is on the 1st floor, at the bottom of the stairs) as my starting point to feng shui the LV rm?
There is a tiny fourier between the front door & the bottom of the stairs…if this makes any difference at all.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the map meant the front door of each room is the starting point, and you apply the map to each individual room.

i do not think that chinese fengshui is that easy. i know this, because the one you are asking about is published in most english books; while the ones i learned from seminars from fengshui practitioners are not as easy as the ones you read in books. like one of my teachers told me, most fengshui books are free or not that expensive, because nobody wants them - meaning, it does not give you the result that you want or need.
there is more to chinese fengshui than dividing your space into 8 sections as a bagua.
please note that it is dangerous to put a bagua (you know the wooden block usually with a mirror at the center) inside the house - bec it make the occupants sick or leave the house, literally.
i still would recommend that you get fengshui practitioner to do your house. or you can try this, rent a new place, try to see if your luck changes for the good in 2 to 3 months time. if it does not, move again. - this is trial and error method… a bit crude for people who do not know the fengshui methods. but it works.
the most important thing in a home is where the most chi/ energy goes into your house - which is the main front door - this determines which areas in your house have good chi, and which areas have bad chi. difficult to explain, because it is case to case basis. in essence, you use the spaces or rooms with good chi for the living rooms, bed rooms; while leave the rooms with bad chi for storage, garage and toilets; as for the kitchen, it has a special location, because it should draw in wealth into your life when it is located properly using chinese fengshui.
when i say chi or energy, it is not vibes or paranormal energy, it is not a psychic thing.
sometimes, when the house is already built, fengshui practitioners would tilt the door to a particular degree to shift the distribution of chi inside the house.
i know that this is too vague, esp if you do not hire a fengshui practitioner to do an audit of your house. but this method is way effective than the one you are talking about. this method can actually optimize your life, your health and your wealth.
